Explanation
といえども is a formal, literary way to express a contrast between what might be expected and what follows. It is stronger and more restrained than the everyday けれども/ although, often used in written Japanese, speeches, or formal arguments. It emphasizes that despite the preceding statement, the subsequent situation holds true. It can apply to people, situations, facts, or general observations, and is commonly used to present a concession before making a point or asserting a result.
彼は天才といえども、努力を怠れば失敗することもある。
かれはてんさいといえども、どりょくをおこたればしっぱいすることもある。
Even though he’s a genius, if he neglects effort, he can fail.
有名人といえども、私生活は守られるべきだ。
