Verb (dictionary form) + まで
Explanation
Use まで after a verb in its dictionary form to express that something continues until that action is completed, or that something happens by the time that action occurs. It marks the endpoint in time or in a sequence. It can describe waiting, continuing an action, or stopping at that point. Do not confuse with までに, which denotes a deadline to meet or complete something by a certain time. The subject can be shown or understood from context.
学校が終わるまで待っている。
がっこうがおわるまでまっている。
I am waiting until school ends.
会議が始まるまで待つ。
かいぎがはじまるまでまつ。
I will wait until the meeting starts.
夏休みが終わるまで宿題をしない。
なつやすみがおわるまでしゅくだいをしない。
I won’t do homework until summer vacation ends.
電車が来るまでここで待つ。
でんしゃがくるまでここでまつ。
I’ll wait here until the train arrives.
