About this pattern
Explanation
This pattern is used to describe a change of state: something changes and becomes a certain quality or condition. For i-adjectives, replace the final い with くなる to express “becoming ….” For na-adjectives (and nouns that behave like na-adjectives), add になる after the adjective to express “becoming ….” The construction focuses on the transition from the previous state to a new state.
