ている②

The ている form attaches to the て-form of a verb to describe an action that is currently in progress or a state that has resulted from a previous action. It often conveys that something is happening right now, or that a situation continues as a result of a past action (e.g., having completed something or being in a certain condition). In practical use, it covers both "ongoing action" (e.g., eating now) and "current state" (e.g., married, in a room). With nouns, でいる is used to describe a continuing state by linking the noun with で (as in 〜でいる).
