About this pattern
Explanation
ましょう is the polite volitional form used to propose that both speaker and listener do something together. It softens the suggestion and sounds inclusive and courteous. Commonly used in everyday conversation among friends, family, or colleagues when inviting participation or proposing a plan. The form attaches directly to the ます-stem of a verb (e.g., 行きましょう from 行きます). It can also be used with positive offers or to propose actions in a shared context, and in questions as ましょうか to seek agreement.
