About this pattern
Explanation
など is used to indicate examples or to say “things like” or “and so on.” It follows a list of items, activities, or categories to show that there are more similar items beyond what is mentioned. It softens the statement by implying there are other possibilities without listing them all. It can also be used toward the end of a sentence to summarize a non-exhaustive list. In casual speech, it often replaces phrases like などのような or などといった. Typical contexts include talking about example items, hobbies, or categories when the speaker doesn’t want to enumerate everything.
