なさる
Meanings
to do (honorific)
About this pattern
Explanation
This is the standard honorific verb for “to do,” used to show respect toward the person performing the action. You replace する with なさる when talking about someone else's actions (especially someone higher in status, like a teacher, boss, or elder). It behaves like a regular godan-style conjugation, so you can attach the usual endings: なさいます (polite), なさって (te-form), なさった (past), なさらない (negative), なさりません (polite negative). Note that 勉強する → 勉強なさる is a typical pattern, and you generally avoid using なさる for yourself; use する. Examples: 先生がこの仕事をなさいます。 The teacher will do this work. 社長はその提案をなさった。 The president did that proposal. なさってください。 Please do it (in a respectful request).
