Explanation
折角 is used to emphasize that a lot of effort or a special circumstance has been invested, so the following outcome or decision should be viewed with that effort in mind. It can express disappointment when things don’t go as hoped (折角なのに…), or politely frame a suggestion or course of action by stressing the value of the occasion (折角ですから…). Common contexts include travel, opportunities, and occasions where someone has gone out of their way to do something, or when you want to remind someone that the rare opportunity should be used wisely.
折角遠くから来たのに、雨でイベントが中止になってしまった。
せっかくとおくからきたのに、あめでイベントがちゅうしになってしまった。
I went to the trouble of coming from far away, but the event was canceled because of the rain.
折角の休日なのに、結局家でだらだらして終わった。
