Explanation

僅かに is an adverb that marks a small degree or a narrow amount. It softens or limits what is being described, often implying that the change or amount is small and sometimes barely noticeable. It can attach to verbs to indicate a small amount of action, or to adjectives/participles to indicate a slight degree. It is commonly used when the speaker wants to emphasize that the quantity, extent, or effect is much less than expected.

僅かに時間があるので、急いで出発した。

わずかにじかんがあるので、いそいでしゅっぱつした。

I have only a little time, so I left in a hurry.

彼の成績は僅かに向上した。

かれのせいせきはわずかにこうじょうした。

His grades improved slightly.
