との

との is a formal quotative particle used after a noun or a plain sentence to report what someone has said, what is believed, or what is reported. It conveys hearsay or reported information in a detached, written, or formal style. It is common in news reports, business correspondence, or academic writing. The quoted content before との is not marked by だ/です when you’re using とのこと; instead, you attach の with との after the quoted clause or noun to indicate “that …” information has been reported.
