Explanation
つもりだ is used to express that the speaker intends or plans to do something in the near future. It shows the speaker’s own determination or decision about an action. It doesn’t guarantee that the action will definitely happen; plans can change. Use it for your own intentions or for what you believe will happen based on your plan. When talking about others’ intentions, use つもりだ for what you think they intend, or rely on other expressions; for your own plans, つもりだ is common.
明日、早く起きるつもりだ。
あした、はやくおきるつもりだ。
I plan to wake up early tomorrow.
この本を読まないつもりだ。
このほんをよまないつもりだ。
