Explanation

だって is a casual, versatile conjunction and sentence-ending filler. It can introduce a reason or cause in a soft, explanatory way (like 'because' or 'you see'), present a contrast (like 'but/even so'), or introduce information you heard or was said (like 'I heard that...'). In everyday speech, it adds a feeling of immediacy and familiarity, and it often appears mid-conversation rather than in formal writing. When used to report hearsay, it quotes what someone said or what was reported and then adds your reaction or continuation.

今日は忙しい。だって、テストが明日あるんだもん。
