Explanation
Used to connect two or more items or clauses to show that the second (or subsequent) item is true in addition to the first. It conveys the idea of 'not only ... but also ...' and is common in both written and spoken Japanese. The part before だけでなく can be a noun, an i-adjective, a na-adjective (with な before だけでなく), or a verb in its dictionary form.
彼は日本語だけでなく英語も話せる。
かれはにほんごだけでなくえいごもはなせる。
He can speak not only Japanese but also English.
