Explanation
A conjunctive expression that presents a contrast: despite what happened or what was expected in the first clause, the second clause occurs or is true. Used to express surprise, disappointment, or a striking contradiction.
彼は約束を守ると言った。それなのに、来なかった。
かれはやくそくをまもるといった。それなのに、こなかった。
He said he would keep the promise. And yet, he didn't come.
雨が降っている。それなのに、彼は外に出かけた。
あめがふっている。それなのに、かれはそとにでかけた。
It's raining. And yet, he went outside.
彼女は一生懸命勉強した。それなのに、試験は難しかった。
